MEAT & Greet Club

General Information

The purpose of the "MEAT and Greet Club" SIG is to connect Vegan and Not so Vegan members who are interested in Clean Food that are whole and minimally processed. We will explore lean proteins, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and healthy fats. The focus will be nutrient density while minimizing synthetic ingredients, artificial additives, and added sugars. This SIG holds periodic events which will be in person sharing food at members' homes, dining out, attending educational events and fun activities as well. This will be a relaxed environment that will create the opportunity to get to know each other and develop deeper relationships.

If you are interested in joining this SIG please add your name to the group using this link Meat & Greet Group.

Event Information

MEAT & Greet Club – First SIG Event!

We had a wonderful first meeting, I am very grateful to everyone that was able to make it.  We enjoyed great food and conversations, walked in my garden and enjoyed flowers and nature.  We top it off with great dessert and coffee, and more fun conversations.

See below recap of our first “MEAT” & Great” Meeting that took place on July 20th.

1.        We had 9 members at this kick-off gathering, including Linda, Jean, Miriam, Donna, Barb, Lauren, Joy, Sheryl and me.

2.        See attached pictures

3.        As previously stated, our meetings will take place on the third Monday of each month, which means the next one is on August 17th (unless the specific activity calls for a different date)

4.        Jean will be leading the next gathering (she will provide information for this activity)

5.        We visited multiple subjects for future meetings, from dinners out, tours to different places of interest, wineries, and others.

6.        We agreed with focusing on healthy foods and habits, and a 2 week rotation to send educational emails about this subject.

7.        Susana is starting the 2 week rotation email, approximately the middle and end of the month. First subject is “The importance of Protein Intake for Older Women”.  See attached pdf with this information.

8.        We talked about Functional Medicine and the promising future of it.  See attached pdf with this information.

9.        We need a volunteer to lead the September & October gathering / event.

10.   We talked about running this event, potentially from June through October.  We can adjust the timing on this as we see it fits.

11.   Lastly, I know it may sound crazy, but we talked about a “SLUMBER PARTY” at my home as a side activity besides the monthly gathering.  It doesn’t mean doing our nails or talking about boys, our subject would be “The Intriguing world of UFO’s”.  We would watch documentaries” and eat lots of snacks (maybe wine ).  Breakfast will be provided by the host (me).  For the ones truly interested in this adventure, please send me an email.

Let me know if I have missed anything at all.

Buenas Noches mis amigas…!

Susana
