For September, let's return to the Phillips Collection for a highly varied, juried competition show.
In keeping with its long-standing commitment to championing the work of living artists in the Washington, DC, area, The Phillips Collection is presenting a major exhibition showcasing 48 artists based in the greater DC region. The result of an open call that drew 1,500 applications, the exhibition brings together an intergenerational group of artists who are grappling with the complexities of the contemporary world, while celebrating the beauty, resilience, and determination that inspires their ongoing creative practice.
We'll meet at noon in the Phillips lobby. On first Saturdays, BoA Credit Card holders receive free admission (usually $15/$20), so, if you have one, be sure to bring it. There is limited street parking so consider Metro--DuPont Circle station is only a couple blocks away.
We'll spend about an hour and 20 minutes at the museum. Around 1:20, we'll gather back at the lobby to head to Zorba's Cafe for a delicious and congenial Greek lunch.
And, just in case you fall in love, most of the artworks from the exhibition are for sale through the artist.
Event Host: Gretchen. Repeat attendees will be invited to host a future event.
