CHI (P) - Estate Planning Essentials
About this event
Estate Planning Essentials: Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and More
Many of us know we should have an estate plan, but laws change, life circumstances change, and what worked years ago may no longer be the best approach today.
After purchasing a condo and updating my own estate documents, I discovered that Illinois trust laws changed in 2020, raising questions I couldn't easily get answered. After a lengthy search, I was fortunate to be referred to attorney Dan Balanoff (balanofflaw.com), whose practical approach, expertise, and ability to explain complex topics made the process much easier and more comfortable.
Dan will join us to discuss the key estate planning documents every adult should understand, including:
• Wills
• Trusts
• Transfer on Death (TOD) designations
• Powers of Attorney for Healthcare and Property
• Living Wills and DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) orders
• Recent legal changes that may affect your estate plan
Most importantly, Dan has requested plenty of time for questions. Whether you're creating an estate plan for the first time, updating existing documents, or simply wondering how current laws might affect your situation, this is an excellent opportunity to get answers from an experienced attorney.
Bring your questions and join us for what promises to be an informative and practical discussion.
The event will be hosted at the home of member Mary W. in Bucktown. Address provided after registration.
