About this event

The High Line may be about two stories high—but it’s hundreds of stories deep. Get the whole story by signing up for this private tour. High Line Art is dedicated to expanding the role of contemporary art in public spaces. Much of what you see is commissioned and produced especially for the High Line. These sculptures, installations, sound pieces, murals—and more—challenge traditional notions of public art in both critical and playful ways.
The High Line’s planting design is inspired by the self-seeded landscape that grew wild for 25 years after the trains stopped running. Wandering through the gardens, you’ll find perennials, grasses, shrubs, and trees that were chosen for their hardiness and ever-changing textures and colors in all four seasons.
Our tour will be led by a volunteer docent who is familiar with all aspects of the park and will last about 90 minutes.
Elevator Access: For anyone who needs an elevator, please check the elevator status on the Highline website before arrival.
*Optional Lunch: Pay-On-Your-Own
After the tour, we’ll head to a nearby restaurant for an optional lunch to continue the conversation about the walking tour and enjoy each other’s company. Please plan to bring cash to cover your meal.
