"Jerrell Gibbs: No Solace in the Shade" surveys the first decade of contemporary Baltimore artist Jerrell Gibbs’s (b. 1988) career and marks his first one-person Museum exhibition. A painter with astonishing creativity, Gibbs’s dynamic, large-scale figurative paintings explore facets of Black life, including family, friends, and community.
Our visit to the museum starts with a 10AM Welcome, followed by a one-hour “Jerrell Gibbs/Brandywine Treasures” guided tour. Please arrive 15 minutes before the visit starts at 10 AM.
At 11:15 we will move to the Waterview Room for a special collage activity Inspired by the patterns and colors from "Jerrell Gibbs: No Solace in the Shade". Participants will explore memory and creativity in this hands-on collaging art activity.
Directions:
From Philadelphia
Take I-95 south to Route 322 west. Follow 322 west to its intersection with US Route 1. Follow US Route 1 south approximately 3 1/2 miles to Chadds Ford. The Brandywine Museum of Art is located on the left side of US Route 1, just past the intersection with Creek Road (formerly known as Route 100).
The Brandywine River Museum of Art has a free parking lot.

Cancellation Policy:
If you are a member and cancel your registration before the specified deadline, you will receive a full refund as a credit to your account. You can use the credit to pay for another event or put it toward your annual dues payment. Non-members will receive a refund on their credit card, minus a $4 processing fee.
