The Josiah Henson Museum and Park is located on the grounds of the former plantation where Rev. Josiah Henson was enslaved. Our one-hour tour will feature interactive exhibits about Josiah Henson’s life from enslavement to freedom, as well as the daily lives of others who were enslaved on the plantation. An interactive audio display allows visitors to hear accounts by individual slaves in settings like this one.
After the museum tour, we will have a guided tour of the grounds to learn about the features and artifacts that inform our understanding of Rev. Josiah Henson’s life at the Riley Plantation. We will learn about what the archaeologists have found (and continue to find) on the site, along with parallels between these finds and Henson's narratives.
Parking
There is no parking lot and only limited accessible parking at the Museum. Park at the Aquatic Center, 5900 Executive Boulevard, at the far left end of the lot.
