Inspiring Women – Hedy Lamarr 

Often called the Most Beautiful Woman in Film, Hedy Lamarr (1914 - 2000) was an MGM star during the Golden Age. She also had a brilliant, creative mind but rarely got credit for it until near the end of her life. Her most famous invention -- a “secret communication system” that was the precursor to Wi-Fi --was patented in 1942.

In addition to having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she received the Pioneer Award from the Electronic Frontier Foundation in 1997 and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame posthumously in 2014. After a short video highlighting her inventions, we can discuss them and explore the dichotomy between her two passions.
